Tutorials¶
A tutorial takes you from nothing to a working result. You follow numbered steps, see at every step what you get back and read in a sentence or two why you do it this way. Each tutorial uses several of Core's building blocks at once and points to the pages under Understanding Core, Build and Manage for the details.
The seven tutorials follow one case. You are a partner building a support assistant for your customer Noordwind, a trading company: an agent that answers questions from Noordwind's handbook and creates a ticket when that is needed. After that you give Noordwind an organisation of its own and turn the assistant into a solution you can install at every customer.
The tutorials¶
| Tutorial | What you build | |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Build your first agent | an agent with a model and an instruction, in two versions |
| 2 | Give an agent knowledge from your own business information | a collection, an index and a search tool, so the agent answers from the handbook |
| 3 | Let an agent carry out an action with a tool | an API connector with which the agent creates a ticket |
| 4 | Connect an external capability through MCP | an MCP server whose tools you give to an agent |
| 5 | Build an agent that combines knowledge and tools | one agent that searches and acts, with a toolset and, where it fits, a knowledge graph |
| 6 | Set up a new customer organisation | an organisation for your customer, with an administrator, a key and a monthly cap |
| 7 | Build one solution as a partner that you can use at several customer organisations | a publication you install and update at every customer |
The order¶
Tutorials 1, 2, 3 and 5 build on each other: follow them in that order. Tutorial 4 stands alone and can be done at any moment. Tutorial 6 stands alone too. Tutorial 7 publishes what you built in tutorial 5 to the organisation from tutorial 6.
If you first want to know how the building blocks fit together, read The Core model. You do not need it to start. When you build a product of your own with Core underneath, Building a platform on Core lists the choices these tutorials make step by step.
What you need¶
- An organisation. Your operator, Artific, creates your own organisation for you. In tutorials 1 to 5 you build in it.
-
An API key of that organisation, with the capabilities a tutorial names:
Tutorial Capabilities on your key 1 agents2 agents,knowledge3 agents,tooling4 tooling, andagentsfor the last step5 agents, knowledge, toolingEach capability must also be on in your organisation's ceiling (Keys, capabilities and policy).
GET /keyshows what your key has. -
CORE_URLandCORE_KEYas environment variables, as Make your first call sets them. Every example withcurluses them. - A model id your key may call. Tutorial 1 shows how to ask for one.
- For tutorials 3 and 4: a host Core may reach. An administrator of your organisation allows
it in the console, or a key with the capability
managementthrough the API. - For tutorials 6 and 7: an account with which you administer your own organisation in the console (Use the console).
- For the checks with a trace (tutorials 2 to 5): trace storage must be on for your installation and your organisation (Read a trace).
The examples use the domain example.com for systems outside Core. Replace those addresses with
those of your own systems.
When something answers 404¶
Most first problems are a capability that is off. Core then answers 404, the same answer as for
a path that does not exist. Check GET /key and read
Troubleshoot a 404. Every tutorial ends with
the errors you most often meet at those steps.
